Join us at the beautiful Kentucky Horse Park on May 12, 2018 to honor and commemorate John Sensenig’s over 40 years of service to the local running community. John has been a fixture in the local running and walking community since opening his first local running shop in 1977. Year-in and year-out, John has been at the forefront of creating a lively and local running/walking family. After a lifetime of service and as John begins to step back from the day-to-day running of the shop, the second annual John’s Run Local 8k grew from the desire to celebrate all he has given to the local Lexington and Central Kentucky community. Proceeds from the race benefit the Arboretum Legacy Campaign. This campaign was established to raise funds to renovate and expand the Dorotha Smith Oatts Visitor Center at The Arboretum and to establish an endowment to support the facilities and educational programs.
Amenities include a short sleeve technical running shirt (in your choice of men’s or women’s sizing) with the John’s Run Local 8k logo. Finishers will receive a John’s Run/Walk Shop mug and a native Kentucky tree seedling from the Kentucky Division of Forestry.
Overall awards ($150 in prize money to the top overall male and female!) and age group awards will be given out as well. We will be enforcing a 20 minute/mile cutoff time for the event.
