NAMI Lexington – It is our mission ~

To assist Families, Individuals, and Caregivers whose life experience includes living with a persistent mental illness.

To help them acquire and use available supports and skills necessary to manage their symptoms, return to the community, find success, hope and meaning in the role and environment of their choice.

Education

Free education programs and information activities are provided to help educate other families, consumers, professionals, and the public.

Outreach and Support

Support groups are offered by families and consumers for families and consumers.

Public awareness activities such as Mental Illness Awareness Week, held during October, help dispel the stigma surrounding mental illness and encourage early intervention and treatment.

Advocacy

NAMI focuses on building relationships at national, state, and local levels with community leaders and elected officials.

NAMI advocates to ensure that nondiscriminatory and equitable public and private-sector policies are in place and that policy decisions are reflective of the best economic, science, recovery, and systems choices while ensuring the best outcomes.
