How We Fit Shoes

John's Run/Walk Shop and all of our family of stores has a standard process for selecting and fitting shoes and you, the customer, have an active role in that process.

First, we will ask you about:
• What the shoe will be used for.
• The surfaces you will be wearing the shoe on.
• Your history of injuries or related problems.

We also look at the shape of your foot, including:
• Height of the arch and overall shape of the foot. .
• Width at the forefoot, mid-foot, and heel.
• The presence of bunions or other factors that would affect the fit.

We then determine your wear characteristics by examining the wear patterns on your old shoes. From this wear pattern we can determine:
• If you are a heel striker, mid-foot striker, or forefoot striker.
• If you over-pronate, under-pronate, or have a neutral foot strike.

Finally, in the most important step, we help you compare two or three (or more) pairs of shoes. After all, just because several shoes meet your requirements does not mean each will feel the same on your foot. That is why everyone at John's Run/Walk Shop takes the extra time to ensure that the shoes you choose will be the shoes that fit!
