Join us at the beautiful Kentucky Horse Park on May 13, 2017 to honor and commemorate John Sensenig’s nearly 40 years of service to the local running community. John has been a fixture in the local running and walking community since opening his first local running shop in 1977. Year-in and year-out, John has been at the forefront of creating a lively and local running/walking family. After a lifetime of service and as John begins to step back from the day-to-day running of the shop, John’s Run Local 8k has grown from the desire to celebrate all he has given to the local Lexington and Central Kentucky community.
The race will take place at the Kentucky Horse Park on Saturday, May 13th at 8:00 a.m. Registration is $45.00. Participants will receive a short sleeve technical running shirt (in your choice of men’s or women’s sizing) with the John’s Run Local 8k logo as well as a bag of swag. Finishers will receive a custom finisher award! Overall awards and age group awards will be given out as well.
John’s Run Local 8k has teamed up with the The Arboretum, State Botanical Garden of Kentucky to donate money raised from the race to the Arboretum Legacy Campaign! This campaign was established to raise funds to renovate and expand the Dorotha Smith Oatts Visitor Center at The Arboretum and to establish an endowment to support the facilities and educational programs. John has been a lifelong supporter of conservation initiatives, so we are honored to partner with The Arboretum to raise money for this great cause!
Check out this year’s shirts and tree seedling finisher awards!
We will be enforcing a 20 minute/mile cutoff time for the event.
